Let us never forget the sacrifices of those from our area who paid the ultimate price for our freedom and way of life here at home. Please join us in commemorating them and their families through this enduring Memorial.
- MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. We successfully launched the Fallen Warriors Memorial as planned on 11.11.14 (Veteran's Day). Thank's to the overwhelming support of the community and city leadership for supporting this effort. It will be an enduring representation of local sacrifice, honor, and patriotism for many generations to see. If you have not seen the monument, please go by - it is across the street from the St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce and on the Auditorium grounds on Myrtle Street. Can't miss it!
- BRICKS AND DONATIONS STILL BEING ACCEPTED. If you missed the opportunity to purchase a brick, please go to the following link Fallen Warriors Memorial of Morgan City Flyer & Brick order form. You will need to print the form, fill it out, and mail it to the address on the form. If you have any questions, please see the contact information for email and phone numbers. We will post information on when we need to make the next large order. All funds from bricks and other monetary donations will be used for the Fallen Warrior Maintenance Fund. We appreciate your support as always.
- WHAT'S NEXT? Now that the monument is complete, we will continue to make aesthetic improvements to the site with the support of other local organizations. We will also be forming a civic committee that will be responsible for maintaining the site as well as helping to coordinate activities there from time to time. More to follow on the committee and involvement.
Fallen Warriors Memorial Project – Morgan City
Objective: To raise awareness and support towards planning and coordinating a Fallen Warrior Memorial to honor those Fallen Warriors from WWI through current conflicts that were from the greater Morgan City area (MC, Berwick, Bayou Vista, Patterson, and Amelia). Criteria for Fallen Warriors will be decided upon, but at a minimum, it will be Killed In Action or Died of Wounds. The goal is to have a complete list of names and contact information of family members, funds raised, and a suitable memorial designed and constructed by Veterans Day 2014.
